Refund Policy

What happens to your money if you change your mind. Fourteen days on annual, end of period on monthly, and no retention flow designed to wear you down.

Last updated 31 August 2026

This Refund Policy applies to every Ares United Council membership. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

We have written it to match what the Council page and FAQ say, so there is one promise rather than two. If you find anywhere on this site that contradicts this page, this page is the one that governs, and please tell us so we can fix the other one.

The short version

  • Annual memberships: full refund within 14 days of purchase. After 14 days, no refund, but you keep access for the rest of the year and it will not renew once cancelled.
  • Monthly memberships: no partial refunds. Cancel and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Cancel anytime. Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not claw back the current one.

1. Annual memberships

If you bought an annual membership and change your mind within 14 days of the purchase date, email us and we will refund it in full to the original payment method.

After 14 days an annual membership is non refundable. You keep full access, including your gifted sub routing, for the remainder of the twelve months. You can cancel at any point during that time to stop it renewing.

2. Monthly memberships

Monthly memberships are not refunded part way through a month. When you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and then stops. You are not charged again.

We do not backdate refunds for months where you were subscribed but did not use anything. If you forgot to cancel, email us anyway and we will look at it. We would rather sort it out than have you feel cheated over one month.

3. Gifted subs already sent

Gifted subscriptions routed to creators on your behalf cannot be reversed once they have been delivered on the creator’s platform. A refund of your membership does not pull back a gift that has already reached a creator, because the money has left and someone has received it.

This is why the 14 day window on annual memberships matters. It is set to cover the period before the first routing happens.

4. Payment processor fees

Where a refund is issued, Stripe’s processing fee is not returned to us. We absorb that rather than deduct it from your refund. You get back what you paid.

5. How to cancel

Two ways, both fine:

  • Stripe customer portal. Linked from your member dashboard. Cancel, change tier, or update your card yourself.
  • Email us. [email protected] with the subject line Council. We will action it and confirm.

We do not use retention flows, cancellation surveys, or a support agent whose job is to talk you out of it. Cancelling is a button.

6. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] with Refund in the subject line and the email address you used at checkout. We aim to respond within three working days and to process approved refunds within five.

Refunds return to the original payment method. How quickly it appears is up to your bank, usually five to ten working days.

7. Removals for conduct

If a membership is terminated because of a breach of our Terms of Service, no refund is given for the remaining period. That is the one case where the rules above do not apply.

8. If we stop

If Ares United ceases operating, or suspends the Council, we will refund the unused portion of any annual membership on a pro rata basis, and stop all monthly billing immediately. We will say so publicly and in the monthly report rather than going quiet.

9. Chargebacks

Please email us before opening a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback costs us a fee on top of the disputed amount and takes months to resolve, and in almost every case we would simply have refunded you. If you have opened one already, tell us and we will work with you rather than contest it reflexively.

Questions

Ask and we will answer.

Anything on this page that is unclear, ask. If it is a fair question the answer goes on the Council FAQ so the next person does not have to ask it.
